Romeo Ferraris – M1RA set the pace as the PURE ETCR Race SP got underway with a pair of free practice sessions at MotorLand Aragón on Friday morning.
Oli Webb was fastest overall; the Briton’s time of 1m11.097s in the Pool B practice less than a tenth of a second faster than Hyundai Motorsport N’s Jean-Karl Vernay.
In Pool A practice, which was held earlier in the morning, the sister Giulia ETCR of Stefano Coletti was quickest by just over three tenths of a second from series leader Mikel Azcona’s CUPRA X Zengo Motorsport e-Racer.
Track conditions evolved as the morning became the early afternoon, accounting for a significant improvement in laptimes between the Pool A and Pool B runners.
Coletti’s session-topping time in the morning was 0.7 seconds slower than Webb’s afternoon pace and good enough for sixth overall.
Behind Webb and Vernay, third overall went to CUPRA’s Mattias Ekström, who made it three different manufacturers in the top three positions.
The competitive action gets underway at 15h00 CET with the start of Round 1, for which The Draw was made on Thursday night.
