International Sportscar Champion Oli Webb became the latest driver to experience an ETCR car at Autodromo Vallelunga this week.
The 30-year-old Briton drove the Giulia ETCR by Romeo Ferraris, which the Italian manufacturer will campaign in PURE ETCR this year, during the series’ ‘Stress Test’ at the track close to Rome.
The 2014 European Le Mans Series Champion, who has previously tested Formula E machinery and raced an electric SUV, came away impressed with what he found.
“I’m very grateful to [Romeo Ferraris Operations Manager] Michela Cerruti and [Technical Director] Mario Ferraris for giving me the opportunity to test the Giulia ETCR by Romeo Ferraris,” said the 2015 Dubai 24 Hours winner.
“Undoubtedly, it is an extremely innovative car and format. I didn’t have experience with a touring car and it was great fun. I could test the car with different outputs, 300, 450 and 500kW, both on the long and short track at Vallelunga.
“I felt immediately at ease with the team and the staff and that has made adjusting quite easy, in both a situation and a track that were new to me.”
Romeo Ferraris have confirmed Stefano Coletti – who also drove at the Stress Test – and Luca Filippi as their first two race drivers for the inaugural PURE ETCR season, which begins at Vallelunga on June 18-20.
