Luca Filippi has heaped praise on the Romeo Ferraris – M1RA team after a strong start to the PURE ETCR season at Race IT at Vallelunga.
The 35-year-old Italian was in inspired form at his home circuit as he scored a Battle win in Round 1 and came third in DHL SuperFinal B to finish the weekend in fifth place in his Giulia ETCR by Romeo Ferraris.
“It’s been a really good weekend for us,” Filippi said. “I have to say a huge thank you to the team because we’ve had a long winter preparing for this.
“We had very good testing sessions over the past few months and since day one, the car has had no serious issues.”
Filippi commented that the combination of the Italian Romeo Ferraris outfit and Hungarian organisation M1RA, who are working together for the first time, has been seamless so far.
“It’s a very good combination,” he added. “We are working as a big group together, with Romeo Ferraris – who I know well for the past year in WTCR – and with the M1RA group also, who are bringing a lot of knowledge.
“From the engineering point of view there are many different concepts that we’re trying and sharing, and that’s definitely helping to push us forwards. Through the season I think these two groups can keep us going in the right direction.”
Filippi made a terrific start to the weekend by winning his Round 1 Battle in his Giulia ETCR by Romeo Ferraris; triumphing over Hyundai Motorsport N’s Jean-Karl Vernay and team-mate Oli Webb.
He finished the weekend with third place in DHL SuperFinal B to lie fifth in the Drivers’ points and best-placed of the drivers from his team.
The season continues at MotorLand Aragón, Spain, on July 9-11
