Augusto Farfus collected his second TAG Heuer Best Lap Trophy of the season at Race FR at Pau-Arnos over the weekend and immediately praised the work of Hyundai Motorsport N that made the Veloster N ETCR a formidable opponent across the event.
The Brazilian had previously taken the prize at the inaugural PURE ETCR event at Vallelunga, Italy, in June, but had not been able to repeat that kind of Time Trial form since.
“It’s the second event this year where we’ve been fastest, and that’s really positive,” Farfus said. “After the first event in Vallelunga we’ve constantly improved the car and established a good baseline.
“But to have not scored twice in SuperFinals – first in Vallelunga when I was leading, and then in Budapest, has jeopardised the championship. To be able to go out at Pau-Arnos and be fast makes me happy.”
Farfus – despite being penalised eight championship points for an incident with Romeo Ferraris-M1RA’s Luca Filippi in Round One – finished second overall for the weekend, completing a Hyundai one-two behind team-mate and series runner-up, Jean-Karl Vernay.
