Eng praises team after TAG Heuer MVD success in Denmark

Philipp Eng has lavished praise on his Romeo Ferraris-M1RA team-mates after a stunning debut PURE ETCR win in Race DK earned him TAG Heuer Most Valuable Driver status.

The Austrian, who scored 71 points during the weekend, had only had one morning behind the wheel of the Giulia ETCR by Romeo Ferraris before arriving in Denmark, but said he did not feel like a newcomer.

“I don’t feel like a rookie today,” he said. “The team worked so hard for this. Yes I only had one test, but it was a very intense test and we made some changes that have moved everything forwards.

“The team prepared me so well and the teamwork was perfect. My team-mates Oli, Luca and Digo were open books; they shared all their secrets with me. With a series like this you have to dig into the details to get things right and we did that.”

After being drawn on the inside line for his Round 1 Battle, Eng stormed to victory and then was only headed by 0.259 seconds in Round 2 by Hyundai Motorsport N driver Augusto Farfus.

Setting the fastest time in Time Trial B gave him the best possible starting position for DHL SuperFinal B and he made full use of it to take a lights-to-flag victory ahead of Zengo Motorsport by CUPRA pair Jordi Gené and Mikel Azcona.

That win helped him to overhaul team-mate Luca Filippi for King of the Weekend status and the MVD status, as well as lifting him to 11th in the Drivers’ Standings.
