PURE ETCR series leader Mattias Ekström has vowed to open up his laptop and use all the online resources available to him to find out as much as possible about the Pau-Arnos E-Circuit ahead of the season finale on October 15-17.
The 3.0km venue near the city of Pau in the South-West corner of France is hosting international touring car racing for the first time.
For CUPRA X Zengo Motorsport driver Ekström and the four other drivers in contention for the world’s first all-electric touring car title, it marks a trip into the unknown.
“I don’t even know where the track is,” joked the Swede. “I got to know not too long ago – just before the Hungaroring – that we’re going there.
“I’ll do what everyone else does; Google and YouTube and try to learn a bit. I go there with open mind an open eyes.
“We’ll try and get the best set-up for the car and give it my best shot to try and win the race.”
Ekström’s chief rival for the crown is Hyundai Motorsport N’s Jean-Karl Vernay, for whom Pau-Arnos is a home event. CUPRA’s Mikel Azcona and Jordi Gene plus Romeo Ferraris-M1RA driver Rodrigo Baptista are the others.
