Ekström takes TAG Heuer Best Lap Trophy in Denmark

Mattias Ekström may not have been King of the Weekend at PURE ETCR Race DK, but there was some consolation as the Swede claimed the TAG Heuer Best Lap Trophy.

The series leader topped Time Trial A in a time of 1m11.042s around the 2.4km Bellahøj Park circuit to edge out Luca Filippi by 0.387s and then watched as Philipp Eng – the fastest driver in Time Trial B, fell just 15 hundredths of a second short.

“I was very happy with my Time Trial,” the CUPRA X Zengo Motorsport driver said.

“I managed to set the best time of everybody. I was laughing with these guys [Filippi and Eng] about that because it’s a really big challenge.”

Ekström became the third different TAG Heuer Best Lap Trophy winner in as many events in 2021, joining CUPRA team-mate Mikel Azcona and Hyundai Motorsport N’s Augusto Farfus.
