Azcona keeps CUPRA on top in second practice

Mikel Azcona topped the second PURE ETCR RACE IT practice session at Vallelunga to continue Zengo Motorsport X CUPRA’s impressive start to the world’s first all-electric multi-brand touring car series.

The Spanish star hit the top spot midway through the session with a time of 1m20.685s.

It was the fastest time of the day, 0.408s quicker than Hyundai Motorsport N’s Augusto Farfus and more than a second quicker than team-mate Mattias Ekström had gone in the opening session.

Farfus – who also beat Ekstrom’s earlier time – had team-mate John Filippi third in the other Hyundai Veloster N ETCR while Brazilian Rodrigo Baptista was the best of the Romeo Ferraris – M1RA drivers in fourth.

Jordi Gene in the second CUPRA and Luca Filippi in the second Guilia ETCR by Romeo Ferraris completed the times.

The next on-track action will be the first of PURE ETCR’s Battles, on Saturday morning.

Instead of a traditional qualifying session, the starting order for all Battles will be decided by tonight’s Draw, which will be broadcast on PURE ETCR’s Facebook page and YouTube channel at 2100 CET.
