Azcona continues unbeaten streak in Race FR Round 2

Mikel Azcona continued his perfect form at PURE ETCR Race FR by winning his Round 2 Battle at Pau-Arnos E-Circuit to ensure he keeps up the pressure on team-mate Mattias Ekstrom for the title.

Azcona, one of four drivers still in with a chance of winning the world’s first all-electric, multi-brand touring car crown, edged ahead of fellow Round 1 winner Augusto Farfus and was never headed.

The CUPRA X Zengo Motorsport driver used all of his Power-Up on the first lap, which proved enough to keep his Hyundai Motorsport N rival at bay; Farfus choosing to save 10 seconds of his boost for the final lap.

Oli Webb survived light side-by-side contact with John Filippi on the run to the first corner to emerge victorious in Battle 2; the Briton losing the top spot to his rival shortly afterwards, but re-taking the top spot into the tight downhill ‘corkscrew’ before the end of the first lap.

The Romeo Ferraris-M1RA driver holds second spot in Pool A for the time being, one point ahead of Farfus and five clear of team-mate Luca Filippi, who beat Daniel Nagy to the final win in Battle 3.
